Africa
This division is reflected in the varying agricultural traditions
which Africa supports. To the north and east, in the drier, temperate
zone, wild sorghum and African breeds of cattle have sustained agricultural
communities for many millennia, while a more tropical package including
domesticated yams simultaneously spread throughout the wetter central
zones. Over thousands of years, these two packages combined, building
the foundations for a pan-African network of agricultural civilizations.
