North America - Wildlife
Despite hosting a rich variety of mammals, free from the giant predators
seen throughout Tropical Africa, the Americas fall short when it comes
to candidates for domestication. The bison of the North American plains
are dangerous and hostile. Other animals which proved useful are large
flightless birds, such as the turkey, and large rodents, similar to
modern day guinea pigs and hamsters, which provide fur and small quantities
of meat.
