Central
and South America
Central and South America falls short when it comes to domesticable
species of animal except the llama and guinea pig. The only suitable
candidate for labour and protein, the Llama-Alpaca, lives in the Andes.
But even the llama offers limited scope for human use. Its wool and
meat are highly prized, but it can bear only a very light load, and
can’t pull machinery or carry humans.
