The Columbia Scholastic Press Association helps student journalists to educate their peers about emerging issues such as chronic care, within their school and community. By helping these readers and viewers make sense out of conflicting information, student reporters and editors bring to light how issues from afar affect them. The CSPA is an educational press organization providing services to student newspapers, magazines and yearbooks at 2,000 schools and colleges. CSPA's services include written evaluations of individual student publications, award competitions, and journalism conferences and workshops.

Faith in Action makes grants to local volunteer groups representing many faiths, who work together to care for their neighbors who are chronically ill, frail, elderly or disabled. Faith in Action volunteers come from churches, synagogues, mosques and other houses of worship, as well as the community at-large. They help those in need with many everyday activities, such as picking up a few groceries or providing a ride to the doctor. With this volunteer assistance, aging and chronically ill members of the community can maintain their independence for as long as possible.
