By now, we all know how great #InventionEd is — it encourages students to take risks, teaches them to identify problems and find solutions and builds skillsets that all students need. But what do teachers and students think after they've had a chance to try it out in their classrooms?
This fall, educators from across the country got together to discuss how invention ed works out in the classroom. Led by hosts (and fellow teachers!) Sari Beth Rosenberg and Doug Scott, the conversation ranged from how to get students hooked on invention to how to address invention roadblocks.
Educators were joined by research scientist Dr. Marisa Biondi and storyteller/innovator Bunny Yan, as well as student inventors Garima and Rylee who shared their real-life experiences engaging in invention ed.
Classroom's Educator Voice series brings together teachers, librarians and school staff members each month to discuss important issues of the day and how they impact the classroom.
You can watch the full session here (recorded Nov. 7, 2023), or keep reading for selected clips.
