Donald Trump thanked supporters Nov. 6 at his Florida election watch party as he declared himself the winner in what he called the "greatest political movement of all time." Trump spoke before the AP had declared a winner in the race, though results showed him with 267 electoral votes, three shy of the 270 needed to win.
Trump told the crowd he will fight for them with "every breath" in his body. "Every citizen I will fight for you, for your family and your future every single day," Trump said. "I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe and prosperous America that our children deserve and that you deserve," Trump said.

Donald Trump was elected the 47th president of the United States on Wednesday, an extraordinary comeback for a former president who refused to accept defeat four years ago, sparked a violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, was convicted of felony charges and survived two assassination attempts.
With a win in Wisconsin, Trump cleared the 270 electoral votes needed to clinch the presidency.
The victory validates his bare-knuckle approach to politics. He attacked his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris, in deeply personal — often misogynistic and racist — terms as he pushed an apocalyptic picture of a country overrun by violent migrants. The coarse rhetoric, paired with an image of hypermasculinity, resonated with angry voters — particularly men — in a deeply polarized nation.
