Special correspondent Mike Cerre took a look at one approach for all ages. It's part of our ongoing coverage of health and arts for our CANVAS series.

WHAT STUDENTS CAN DO
Art is a general term and does not only mean drawing or visual mediums. Art can be:
- poetry
- books
- drawings/paintings
- sculptures
- architecture
- music
- theatre/film
After learning of some of the many forms of art that exist, it is now your turn to select your favorite form of art. Once you have made your selection, take time to jot down why you enjoy this art. Then, share with one another your reasons.
Now, discuss the importance that your form of art can have in improving the conditions of individuals who may be in the hospital or who may just be going through a difficult time.
Here are some questions that can be used to facilitate discussion:
- Why does your selection of art bring you joy?
- How can it be implemented into the lives of people in hospitals and those going through a rough patch?
- What role does your form of art play in lifting moods of those who engage with it?
- When can one engage in the activities that surround the art style you have selected?
- What is a recommendation you have for others of the art style you enjoy to help people get started?
