The presidential candidates are in the home-stretch of the election, the last two months of the campaign. This video gives the latest from the campaign trail, as Sen. John McCain and his vice-presidential choice Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin work to strengthen the campaign's new message of change and anti-establishment politics. Sen. Barack Obama and his vice-presidential pick Delaware Sen. Joe Biden are challenging that message, saying the Republicans' records do not reflect the change they promise and that they are piggy-backing off of Obama's change message.

NewsHour Vote 2008 Coverage
After clips of the candidates campaigning, political experts reflect on how the choice of adding Palin to the ticket has re-energized Republicans, strengthened McCain's support and closed the "enthusiasm gap" between the Democrats and the Republicans.
Quotes
"Governor Palin took on the old bulls in her party. She ran against an incumbent Republican governor. I have taken on my own party from time to time when it's necessary. And we will take them on. Senator Obama has never stood up to anyone in his party yet." -Sen. John McCain"You can't just recreate yourself. You can't just reinvent yourself. The American people are not stupid. What they're looking for -- what they're looking for is somebody who's been consistently calling for change." - Sen. Barack Obama"Before (McCain) picked Sarah Palin to be his running mate, I would describe Senator McCain's crowds, at best, to be anemic, more like a Senate-race crowd than a presidential campaign. But the day he picked Sarah Palin, they packed a stadium with 10,000 people. And every event since there has been supersized for McCain."- Jill Zuckman, Chief Congressional Correspondent, The Chicago Tribune
