Who Is Leading NGL?
NGL is jointly led by WGBH, Boston’s public media station, and The Partnership, a non-profit with nearly 30 years of experience in executive development for professionals of color. The engagement and recruitment campaign is developed in collaboration with AIR, a network of independent audio producers, multimedia journalists and public media programs and stations.
NGL is guided by a Board of Advisors that includes experts in leadership training, diversity, and public media:

The co-executive directors of NGL are Judith Vecchione of WGBH National Productions, independent producer/director Carlos Sandoval, and Carol Fulp of The Partnership.
Carol Fulp, President and CEO of The Partnership
Carol Fulp is President and CEO of The Partnership, which has provided leadership training to more than 3,000 professionals of color, helping them make the most of their careers. Prior to joining The Partnership, Ms. Fulp was senior vice president of corporate responsibility and brand initiatives at John Hancock Financial. She also worked as director of community programming and human resources for WCVB-TV in Boston, giving her valuable insight into the media environment. Ms. Fulp is the recipient of many honors including the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Pinnacle Award, the Museum of Afro-American History’s Living Legend Award, and the Anti-Defamation League’s Women of Valor Award. In 2011 Boston Business Journal listed her as one of the “50 Most Powerful Women in Boston.”
As The Partnership’s executive director, Ms. Fulp will ensure that the recruitment, leadership development, and media training are seamlessly integrated. She and her co-executive directors will work with the Board members to fine-tune the curriculum, reach new candidates, and adjust the training program to the Fellows’ needs. She will also oversee the Leadership Coaches as they work one-on-one with Fellows in the training and in their home environments.
Carlos Sandoval, President, Camino Bluff Productions

Carlos Sandoval is an award-winning filmmaker whose work includes The State Of Arizona (Independent Lens 2014, CINE Golden Eagle), A Class Apart (American Experience 2009, Imagen Award) and Farmingville (P.O.V. 2004, Sundance Special Jury Prize).
He brings to Next Generation Leadership over 20 years of executive and legal experience in the private and non-profit sectors, and a long commitment to public media . Mr. Sandoval is an advisor with Firelight Media and the Diversity Development Fund. His many connections through organizations like NALIP and The Sundance Fund, and his community engagement work on his films, in partnership with local PBS stations, will also be assets to the Next Generation Leadership initiative.
Judith Vecchione, Executive Producer, WGBH Boston

Judith Vecchione has long experience in public media recruitment and training as executive director of the CPB/PBS Producers Workshops; the many connections she made in diverse communities during that time will be essential to her work on Next Generation Leadership.
She remains active in production, most recently as executive producer for The Longoria Affair (2010), Medal Quest: American Athletes and the Paralympic Games (2012), and Ice Warriors: USA Sled Hockey (2014). She has won many awards, including an Emmy for Vietnam: A Television History, the DuPont Columbia Gold Baton for Eyes on the Prize, and the Peabody Award, Imagen Award, W3 Award, Cine Golden Eagle, Savannah Film Festival’s Best Documentary, and Christopher Spirit Award, among others.
