Roberto Iglesias-Prieto is a Marine Biologist working at the Institute of Marine Sciences and Limnology of the National Autonomous University of Mexico in Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo.  He received his Bachelor and Master degrees at UNAM, and his Ph.D. at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

He has been working on different aspects of the photobiology of corals during the last 20 years. One of his main research objectives is to understand the effects of climate change (increases in temperature and acidification of the ocean) on coral reefs.
