About the Producers

John Rubin

John Rubin turned to documentaries after completing his PhD at MIT in 1986. From 1993 to 1997, he was a staff producer and later supervising producer for National Geographic Television’s Natural History Unit. He then became a partner of Rubin Tarrant Productions from 1997 and 2002.

Currently, Rubin is the president of John Rubin Productions, Inc., in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he continues to develop and produce science and natural history films. In 2005, as producer-director, he will deliver two two-hour specials to National Geographic Channel and as writer, an hour to PBS’s Nature series. Rubin has won numerous awards, including one national Emmy, two Los Angeles area Emmys and the Science in Society Award from the National Association of Science Writers in 2003.
