U.S. troops on a search and destroy mission burn the village of Cam Ne. CBS correspondent Morley Safer's infamous "Zippo lighter" story becomes one of the most controversial television reports of the war. The resulting public pressure forces the U.S. military to issue new rules of engagement, designed to protect South Vietnamese civilians from unnecessary harm.
