House Turmoil & Senate Bipartisanship:

After multiple days of failed votes to elect a new speaker, for the first time in 100 years, lawmakers cannot yet be sworn-in, and cannot conduct legislative business. The House is in limbo, and open questions remain whether Rep. Kevin McCarthy can reach the majority needed to claim the speakership, and unite the Republican Party.

As the House feuds, the White House and the Senate strike a different tone: President Biden and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell appearing together in Kentucky this week to tout infrastructure in a show of bipartisanship.

Joining moderator Yamiche Alcindor to discuss this and more:

  • Susan Page, Washington Bureau chief, USA TODAY
  • Carl Hulse, Chief Washington Correspondent, The New York Times
  • Yasmeen Abutaleb, White House Reporter, The Washington Post
