Coming-up on this week’s Washington Week:
Debt limit stalemate: In his first major test as speaker, Kevin McCarthy successfully, albeit narrowly, passed a party-line bill to raise the debt limit for one year. But Senate Democrats say the bill - which also slashes spending - is “dead on arrival.” And President Biden reiterated this week he will not negotiate spending cuts in talks about increasing the nation’s debt limit.
Biden’s 2024 bid: President Biden makes it official and announces he’s running for re-election in 2024, setting up a possible re-match against Donald Trump. The former president continues to lead the race for the Republican presidential nomination but the GOP field is widening as candidates sharpen their attacks.
