This week on Washington Week:
Why Trump’s growing legal challenges will test America’s democracy
Former President Trump said this week he recently received notification from Special Counsel Jack Smith's office that he’s a target of the Justice Department’s criminal probe into efforts to overturn the 2020 election. DOJ’s notification is a sign the former president - and current frontrunner for the GOP’s 2024 presidential nomination - could be charged soon. The January 6th probe is the latest addition to Trump’s growing list of legal challenges, and the cases are converging at a critical time in the presidential election cycle, setting the stage for what will be a unique test of the country’s election process, justice system and democracy.
