Coming up on Washington Week with The Atlantic:

Abortion Politics and Johnson in Jeopardy:

The politics around reproductive rights in the U.S. came into sharper focus this week as Arizona’s highest court reinstates a 160-year-old abortion ban on Tuesday. Criticism over the decision poured in from both parties, including former President Trump, who announced this week that he opposes a national abortion ban. This has once again left Republicans, in Arizona and across the country, to publicly contend with their stance on the issue.

Meanwhile, Speaker Mike Johnson intends to meet Trump in Florida, as he faces growing opposition from fellow right-wing lawmakers. With clashes this week over renewal of the FISA spy program and Ukraine aid, the future of Republican governing remains unclear, as they fight to be the party in power of the White House and Congress.

Joining staff writer at The Atlantic and guest moderator, Franklin Foer, to discuss this and more:

  • Lisa Desjardins, Congressional Correspondent, PBS NewsHour
  • Susan Glasser, Staff Writer, The New Yorker
  • Ryan Lizza, Chief Washington Correspondent, Politico and Co-Author, “Playbook”
  • Domenico Montanaro, Senior Political Editor and Correspondent, NPR
