Episode 4 Journal

What did you think of today's challenge?

Very difficult — I loved going to the market, seeing the produce. Russ and I did the best that we could, but with hindsight I wish we could have done some things differently — I learned a lot.

What did you prepare today?

Marinated grilled asparagus wrapped in proscuitto with arugula, bell pepper and oregano, garnished with balsamic and hit with infused hot oil. Grilled lamb with shitake rice and herb sauce with shallot. California fruit parfait with cardamom spiced yogurt, pecan honey.

How do you think you did? Is there anything you wish you'd done better?

Cook lamb longer, different sauce and season correctly.

What was the highlight of the day's events?

The market was great, working with everyone!

Are there any lessons you took away from today?

I need to look deeper into myself. I have more to offer than what we did. I need to look out of the box!

What was the most constructive or interesting piece of feedback you heard from the judges?

To watch my temps — not to cook things poorly — I had bad judgment!

How do you think you are doing in relation to your fellow competitors?

Competition is fierce. I feel a little daunted by everyone's talent. But I will just be me and hope for the best — I'm in here aren't I!

Who do you think is faring the best and why (we recognize this changes from day-to-day)?

It is a three way tie — Matt, Frenchi, and Sughi — they all have their own styles — and each are great. I love to watch them.

What do you think your fellow competitors think of you (we recognize this changes from day-to-day)?

That I am positive, happy and easy to work with.
