Episode 3 Journal

What did you think of today's challenge?

I felt today's challenge was a good challenge. It mostly involved preparation, insight, timing and planning.

What did you prepare today?

First an egg, then stuffed shrimp with roasted vegetables and purple rice.

How do you think you did? Is there anything you wish you'd done better?

I think I did OK, but I wished my stuffing was a notch up and I undercooked my vegetables.

What was the highlight of the day's events?

I felt the highlight for me was to listen to the chef of Sona, David Myers, teach about his passion and his restaurant.

Are there any lessons you took away from today?

Yeah — first lesson: set up. Second lesson: remember lesson number one.

What was the most constructive or interesting piece of feedback you heard from the judges?

When Ming said, "I know you are a better cook."

How do you think you are doing in relation to your fellow competitors?

We have a very cool group of guys. I think they look at me as the older, "play it safe" family guy.

Who do you think is faring the best and why?

First, I thought Mike, but now I think Autumn is the one to watch.

What do you think your fellow competitors think of you?

Like I said before, they think I'm the play-it-safe family guy.
