(playful music) - Hi.
- I do love Little Women.
It has a special place in my heart.
- I first read Little Women with my dad.
- My name is Meg and my mom's name is actually Amy so she was like, "We're two of the characters."
- I asked my dad to check it out for me.
- My sister gave it to me as a present.
- And then when it was time to return the book, I asked him to renew it.
- I think my favorite part was when Jo got one of her first pieces published.
- Where she falls through the ice at Walden Pond.
- That special Christmas breakfast where they have like popovers.
I mean, I still do remember those scenes.
- Going to the ball, the dresses.
And they only had like the one pair of good gloves.
- When Jo gets so mad with Amy because Amy has burned her book.
- To have a character who said, you know what, like society may be telling me that this is the right choice for me, my family may be telling me, but I know that this isn't the right choice for me.
That was a really powerful moment.
- I think we all kind of wanted to be Little Women in a way, you know?
Like I really wanted to be Jo.
- Who can not relate to Joe?
- My mom's pretty much Marmee, yeah.
- Amy's world of the arts and I had a strong desire as I got older to go to Europe.
- I'm able to identify with all of the characters.
- Beth 'cause I play piano.
Amy because I'm the youngest and like to draw and Jo because I wanna be an author.
- I loved it because I wanted to be a published writer and Jo was a published writer.
- It is a story that so captures the relationship of sisters.
- At different times in my life, I've been each one of them.
- Everybody's got, you know, one little crisis and misstep after another, but they all worked through it.
- It starts out and you think you know where it's going and then things really change.
- If I had to describe Little Women, I would say... - Family.
- Connection.
- Friendship.
- Pioneering.
- Adventurous.
- Hopeful.
- Compassion.
- Loving.
- Community.
- I wanna pick it up again when I'm a little bit older, maybe even when I'm a mother and see if I have a different kind of take on the relationships and on the story and if I see things a little bit differently.
