Set against a landscape as wild and wonderful as the family at its center, this new saga will weave together love, legacy, family secrets, and plenty of comedic whimsy. Happily, the series comes from the same production company that brought the charming original to life in 2001.
Career-driven solicitor Isla Campbell leaves London to attend her estranged father’s funeral in Scotland. What she expects to be a short stay becomes far more complicated when Isla learns her family’s ancestral estate is drowning in debt. There’s just one problem: Isla’s brother Alasdair – the new “monarch” – refuses to sell the family home to pay it off. Get ready for a new generation of Highland royalty facing very modern challenges while trying to preserve a way of life that may be slipping away.
The new Monarch of the Glen brings together a stellar cast, including three beloved MASTERPIECE veterans: Julia Brown (World on Fire) stars as lawyer Isla Campbell, with Phyllis Logan (Guilt, Downton Abbey) as her Aunt Morag and Rishi Nair (Grantchester) as businessman Daniel. They’re joined by Chris Fulton (Bridgerton, Outlander) as Isla’s brother Alasdair; Ewan Miller (The Gray House, Crime) as gamekeeper and longtime family friend Ewan; and John Gordon Sinclair (Gregory’s Girl, Death in Paradise) as the family’s longtime lawyer, Fergus.
