In some grand sense, we, and especially in the United States,
just use too much energy and I like to think of it, we just
use too much energy per task. I want to drive to the grocery
store to get a bottle of milk, I use too much energy buying
that carton of milk. So all of our tasks are using a
surprisingly large amount of energy per task. So we've got to
change that. Now, that's a mixture of: Do we have technologies
that would let us go down to the grocery store, buy the bottle
of milk, using less fuel? Yes. More efficient engines, more
efficient transmissions, a smaller vehicle that's a lighter
vehicle, all of that would make a difference to the amount of
energy used in that task. I could even walk too. That's a
different kind of opportunity.
