I spent a long time working in this field—I'm talking
over 20 years—when it was decidedly unpopular and viewed
as profoundly unpromising. And so, you know, it's very
gratifying to all of a sudden have— First of all, the
world's decided that this was— is really important and
has great potential. At least much of the world—many
more than used to be the case. And in my particular case, many
of the ideas that I spent a lot of time brewing, not alone,
but with a relatively small group of dedicated
people—students and a few colleagues all over the world,
are all of a sudden gaining traction.
And I'm delighted to be involved in a company which I think

looking for a rocket that's going to propel this, you know, to
the next level and then some.

thus far consistent with the expectation of a potential rocket
and at this point actually the— we've been given the
means to go out and develop world-changing technology and the
ball's in our court. That is tremendously exciting. I'm
grateful to have the chance, because all those years in the
desert, I never quite knew I'd be swimming in water. But at
the same time, we've still got to get to the other side and
that's a great challenge.
