Great Beyond
This miniature tree of
aragonite
frostwork is a lovely
example of the branching patterns of intricate crystals that can
develop under the right conditions. Such conditions are usually
found in drier areas where evaporation has concentrated magnesium in
seeping water. The field of view in this image is roughly five
inches across.
