The flesh of the coelacanth is extremely oily and can upset a
person's stomach to the point of being a laxative. Though it
was known locally long before it was discovered by the world
of science in 1938, it's likely that the fish remained
unrecognized in the world of science for so long because
fishermen knew it to be inedible and threw it back into the
sea.
