affiliated with the Nazi Party.

The "Night of the Long Knives" occurs as Hitler, Hermann
Göring, and Heinrich Himmler conduct a purge of the SA
leadership, murdering about 700 people, including opposition
figures still in Germany.

President Hindenburg dies. Offices of President and Chancellor
combined. Hitler becomes sole leader (Führer) and
Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.
