Today's Great Challenge Vint Cerf, computer scientist MCI WorldCom, Inc. and Jet Propulsion Laboratory We have a short-term challenge: how to accommodate growth of the Internet and its incorporation into all aspects of business, government, and personal activities. In the longer term, a most fascinating challenge is to adapt the architecture of the Internet to work in an interplanetary setting. NASA and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory are already beginning to tackle this problem with participation from the Internet research and development community.
