Four challenges:

  • Find the ultimate theory of physics

  • Make computers emulate human thinking

  • Detect extraterrestrial intelligence

  • Achieve effective biological immortality

Each one of these has been tried in the past, discredited, and abandoned as impossible. But I believe that now we are at the point where with the right new ideas any of them could be done within a generation.
