The Hanging Gardens of Babylon The Hanging Gardens of Babylon

The ancient Hanging Gardens of Babylon were destroyed long ago. Since it was never noted by any of the Babylonian historians, some people think the gardens were a myth and never existed. However, several Greek historians (who came after the Babylonians) wrote of King Nebuchadnezzar's palace and its spectacular gardens. The gardens were built for his wife who was homesick for the landscape of her native Media (now northwest Iran). Current-day archaeologists are divided over where in the palace the gardens may have existed.
