Viewing Ideas

Before Watching
-
Have students draw images of space creatures that they may have
seen in books, on television, or in movies. What are some of the
similarities and differences among these images? How do these
images assume alien life might look? On what might these
assumptions be based? As they watch the program, have students
concentrate on what the abductees claim to have seen and
experienced and how scientists respond.
-
If students have ever heard stories of people who thought they
saw extraterrestrials, have them share some of the details of
those stories. What facts would students like to know about
someone who claims to have been abducted? As they view the
program, have students keep track of the kinds of details
abductees remember and how those memories are retrieved.
After Watching
-
After observing the various people presented in the program,
discuss which individuals and what type of evidence students
think are the most reliable and why. Have them also discuss
which ones are the least reliable and why. Then have students
list criteria they would need to believe these stories.
