The Financial Crisis: the FRONTLINE interviews Money, Power, & Wall Street sponsored by Duke Sanford School of Public Policy
print interview

Wilbur Ross is the chairman and CEO of WL Ross & Co., a private equity company that invests in and restructures distressed companies. According to a recent BusinessWeek story he has invested $1.8 billion in faltering banks since 2008. Ross is often described as a "vulture investor," but he tells FRONTLINE he takes issue with the term: "It should be called a phoenix, because a vulture just eats carrion flesh. … We try to rebuild things." This is the edited transcript of an interview conducted by producer Martin Smith on Dec. 8, 2011.
