Gettysburg Address Analysis Complete

Congratulations! You have successfully analyzed this document.

Abraham Lincoln gave this speech November 19, 1863 on the site of the Battle of Gettysburg to dedicate the Soldiers’ National Cemetery to honor the soldiers who died there during the battle. This speech, which lasted about two minutes, followed a 2-hour speech given by Edward Everett. Although Lincoln’s speech was short (only 272 words), its phrases, such as “four score and seven years ago” and a government “of the people by the people for the people” are still widely quoted today.
