Awarded Copley Medal
The Copley Medal, established in 1736, is the highest award from the Royal Society of London. In the 18th and 19th centuries, the Copley Medal was the equivalent of today’s Nobel Prize. For his work with electricity, Benjamin Franklin was awarded the Copley Medal, the second person to ever receive that honor.
