The creator is not the master of his creations. He is simply their creator, and he creates because he does not attempt to control.

How do you imagine God?

The great tragedy of the human race is that we haven't accepted that WE are as sacred as any god we have imagined, called upon for assistance, loved or blamed and hated for events throughout history. I imagine god as being All That Is, which is how I refer to the creativity that we are all called on to take part in, nourish, and respect from each other and all that encompasses nature. (Sigh) To say the least I am disappointed in humanity's attempts to distance itself from this way of perceiving life.

we create our own reality. Literally. From who we choose for parents before birth, to when and how we'll shed our Earthly bodies, to creating the weather (collectively) and every event that seemingly just 'happens to us'. We are all as powerful and responsible as "God" is -- we've just forgotten and find it easier to blame It, She or Him.
My most powerful moment of belief was ...

when my daughter was born. Being a writer, I always told people my dream job would be to marry someone who would love to work, and leave me home with the kid(s). I fell ass-backwards into exactly what I wanted, and, looking back, I always have.

to realize and remind myself that I create my own reality. I'm here to enjoy life, be creative in whatever small or large way that occurs, and to Be Not Afraid.

that god was someone in the big building we went to (not) see every Sunday. Sometimes an address from the Pope was piped in for fundraising, and that was confusing. God was boring. Life outside the parish doors, especially the homeless up and down the street, was immensely more interesting. But they weren't allowed inside. I regret not knowing how 'radical' a gesture it would have been to invite them to sit in the front pew.

Are your beliefs or practices different from your parents? If so, how and why?
your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator
Very much so. My parents probably do not believe in reincarnation. Many who do not will have a rude awakening (mind the pun) upon their 'death.' But whether you believe in reincarnation or not doesn't really change the fact that it is a reality. My parents probably believe they'll be judged in the afterlife. The only thing they have right is there is life after 'death.' By the way, you are as dead today as you will ever be...

How I Practice My Faith

Every day, everywhere.
Does your family practice more than one religion or faith? If so, how do you blend the traditions?

No.
How easy or difficult is it to live your faith? Why?
your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator
Easy in that there is no religion to join. Difficult in what I see happening around the world due to other religion's club mentality: "If you're not a member of OUR team, you're going to hell -- and we'll help send you there. Here, enjoy this bomb!" (whether strapped around a waist or dropped from a U.S.-made fighter jet)

Religion & the Public Square
What should be the role of religion in politics?

None, just like the Founding Fathers wanted it. No, they were not Christians, Fox News.

Should courses about religion be taught in public schools? Why or why not?
your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator
Only if it's a list of all the major religions worldwide. Anything deeper than that, unless it's a QUESTION asked by a student, should be avoided.
Should the Bible, Torah, Quran or other religious texts be taught as works of literature in public schools? Why or why not?

No. Schools are having a hard enough time teaching reading, writing and arithmetic to our kids.
Is interfaith dialogue important? Why or why not?
your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator
Only if it's to agree that all organized religions do and have done more harm than good, and that we should all agree to take care of the least of us before any of us celebrate how holy and saved we are.
