"Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear." - Thomas Jefferson

I don't believe in ANY higher power, but if when i die and there happens to be one, I am pretty sure he/she will be much more concerned with how good a life I led rather that if i believed he/she was real or not.

September 11, 2001. I was in the 7th grade and I remembered watching the news thinking "What kind of god allows this magnitude of devastation to happen"

that ALL atheists are mean, evil, arrogant, immoral, etc. i don't need a god to be moral. Morals were here before religion and will be here after it's gone.

again, i don't believe in a spirit, but it would have to be Richard Dawkins. i love his disposition and the ability to trade barbs with the religious without losing his cool

The best thing about atheism is BEING GOOD FOR GOODNESS'S SAKE! Not just being obedient to some space daddy and think you're living a moral life because of it

rough, to say the least. My parents threatened to kick me out of the house for saying I was an atheist, so I've had to not mention it to them in any way or remind them of it. I attend Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ. It is a Catholic institution, so I've had to keep it a secret here as well.
I was raised as ...

Yes. I'm an Atheist now and they are non-church attending Christians
How I Practice My Faith
Where and when do you practice your faith?
your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator
Nowhere. Mostly on the internet through interacting with other Atheists via Twitter.
Does your family practice more than one religion or faith? If so, how do you blend the traditions?
your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator
Yes. We don't blend any traditions. They just believe in space daddies
How easy or difficult is it to live your faith? Why?
your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator
Very difficult because of the NUMEROUS negative connotations that the word "atheist" carries among the religious.

What should be the role of religion in politics?
your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator
NONE WHATSOEVER! Many of the Founding Fathers had issues with organized religion. The quote above is one from a very famous Founder, Thomas Jefferson. Many people mistake the inclusion of the word "Creator" in the Constitution to mean that this is a "Christian Nation" On the contrary, they put the word "creator" to AVOID any possible connotations that may lead one to believe they were Christian.
Should courses about religion be taught in public schools? Why or why not?
your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator
No, because, as usual, only one religion will be taught. The separation of church and state is based on the belief of "all or nothing" Either teach ALL religions or teach none.
Should the Bible, Torah, Quran or other religious texts be taught as works of literature in public schools? Why or why not?
your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator
Yes. Only if they are being used as references to subject matter.
Is interfaith dialogue important? Why or why not?
your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator
It's important to understand WHY people believe the things they do instead of demonizing those that aren't like you, in terms of faith.
Do you feel comfortable discussing your faith with others? Why/why not?
your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator
No, because the reactions towards Atheists in this country are very negative and hostile.
Do you feel that you have a duty, because of your faith, to put your beliefs into action? What are some of those actions?
your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator
Yes, but only because the religious Right Wing is trying their hardest to turn the US into a theocracy. It is my duty to uphold the Constitution from ALL ENEMIES, foreign and domestic. I see those who want a theocracy as enemies of the Constitution that must be stopped.
Are religious beliefs compromised by engaging in politics?

NO
Has 9/11 had any impact on your thoughts about religion? Are you more/less interested in learning about other religions? Do you feel more/less comfortable expressing your religious beliefs?
your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator
It has caused me to see religion as dangerous when radicalized. And that applies to all religions, not just Muslims.
