Vote for the Audience Award!
Having received audience awards at film festivals, I can honestly say that the Audience Award from Independent Lens is a unique honor. Knowing the film inspired so many viewers across the country is truly special and I am thankful to have had the opportunity to share this important story about hula and Hawaiian culture with a wide audience.
–Lisette Marie Flanary, filmmaker, NA KAMALEI: The Men of Hula, winner of the 2008 Independent Lens Audience Award

At film festivals, the award that often matters most to filmmakers and their subjects alike is the Audience Award. They know they’ve struck a cord when the audience applauds their efforts.

After each Independent Lens television broadcast, the audience has the opportunity to stand up and be counted by voting online. At the end of the season, the highest rated film is honored.

Come back after this week's broadcast of Independent Lens, and rate the film—good or bad.
Cast your vote and be counted!
