Music director at Houston Grand Opera and the San Francisco Opera's recently appointed principal guest conductor, Patrick Summers has had a long and fruitful association with that company. He served as music director of the Opera Center from 1990 to 1994 and made his Company conducting debut in 1990 with performances of Die Fledermaus. He has since led San Francisco Opera productions of Cosi fan tutte, La Traviata, Rossini's Ermione (U.S. premiere), Otello, L'Elisir d'Amore, Tosca, La Boheme, La Fille du Regiment, La Cenerentola, Faust, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Rigoletto, Guillaume Tell, L'Incoronazione di Poppea (in his own realization), Carmen, four performances of the world premiere of Andre Previn's A Streetcar Named Desire, Norma, and last season's new production of Louise.
