Faith, Reason and Religion

Bill Moyers has been investigating the worlds of faith, reason and religion for decades — from probing conversations in series like A WORLD OF IDEAS and BILL MOYERS JOURNAL to in-depth explorations like GENESIS: A LIVING CONVERSATION and BILL MOYERS ON FAITH & REASON.

We've gathered dozens of conversations from BILL MOYERS JOURNAL into our Moyers on Religion player. Explore the 21st century world of the mind and sprit with thinkers like California Imam Zaid Shakir, Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference and Jonathan Miller creator of the film series A BRIEF HISTORY OF DISBELIEF.

BILL MOYERS ON FAITH & REASON

In this 2007 series, Bill Moyers talked with some of the provocative voices assembled at the PEN World Voices Festival and others grappling with issues of faith and reason. View the entire series online and explore many perspectives on topics like faith and science, myths and sacred texts, and more. Watch the entire series online.

GENESIS: A LIVING CONVERSATION

In GENESIS: A LIVING CONVERSATION, Bill Moyers gathered together thoughtful and engaging individuals — Biblical scholars, writers, artists, psychotherapists, teachers, scientists, composers, lawyers, college presidents, journalists, members of the clergy, and translators — Karen Armstrong among them. The aim was to spark a conversation which would probe what the Genesis has to say to us today. At the Web site for GENESIS you can still participate in the endeavor using the transcripts and a discussion guide developed for the program. We've also collected some audio highlights from GENESIS covering the familiar stories of Noah and the Flood and Cain and Abel.
