Synopsis
Imagine watching Schindler's List and knowing the sadistic Nazi camp commandant played by Ralph Fiennes was your father. Inheritance is the story of Monika Hertwig, the daughter of mass murderer Amon Goeth. Hertwig has spent her life in the shadow of her father's sins, trying to come to terms with her "inheritance." She seeks out Helen Jonas, who was enslaved by Goeth and who is one of the few living eyewitnesses to his unspeakable brutality. The women's raw, emotional meeting unearths terrible truths and lingering questions about how the actions of our parents can continue to ripple through generations.

Critical Acclaim
Powerful... Throughout, Mr. Moll illustrates the narrative with a remarkable collection of archival materials. Then, just when you think he has wrung all the emotions out... the women jolt you again, describing how the wartime experiences affected their loved ones for decades after.”

A powerful, touching account of the depth and height of human tragedy. How can either protagonist ever come to terms with the horror of such inhuman behaviour? My heart goes out to both, particularly Monika.
A story well worth repeating.

Lies
There is no proof to any of this. Goeth was executed by communists

Aweful Truth
Powerful. Took a tremendous amount of courage from both women. For Helen to revisit the past and face the horrors. For Monika... may she continue to reject her "inheritance" as her mother had tried to give it to her and perservere in her courage in her quest to air the truth no matter what and for her fortitude in not hiding behind anything. Both women are remarkable. And to whoever said this was "lies," may God soften your heart and may you find the courage to accept that not only did these horrible things happen but we have to face them. Denial is good for nothing and does noone any favors.

Exactly why "Inheritance" is vital.
I am so glad Walter Thomas HIngerty posted his comment because it is representative of the very real threat that antisemitism still persists to this day; and that it could still spread hatred, violence, and yes, Mr. Hingerty, "lies". Let his warning be a wake-up call to all who seek truth, justice and peace.
Be forever vigilant and all thanks and praise to those Americans who fought and died to free of the world of the greatest evil ever: Nazism.
Sincerely,
A righteous gentile

It wasn't just the Americans who defeated the Nazis - the British and Russians helped too.

Inheritance
I am the daughter of a German woman whose formative years were marred by the Nazi regime and the consequent War. I have spent many hours speaking with my German family and my mother's friends about their experiences during that time, seeking a way to understand how their experiences continued to resonate in their lives. I often wept as I listened.
The story of Monika Hartwig provided me new and deeper understanding of the consequences of that time. I wept with her during the film and I often wonder about her life. Thank you for sharing her story. I wish she would write a book.
