Synopsis
The genocide in the Darfur region of Sudan is the most recent violent episode in a country where a 20-year civil war has killed an estimated two million people and displaced more than four million. The Dinka tribe has been hardest hit. Lost Boys of Sudan follows two young Dinka refugees, Peter and Santino, through their first year in America. As small boys, Peter and Santino lost their families to the war and were forced to flee their homes. Along with 20,000 other boys, they wandered hundreds of miles across the desert seeking safety. After a decade in a Kenyan refugee camp, nearly 4,000 "Lost Boys" have come to the U.S. as part of a refugee resettlement effort. Peter and Santino set out to make new lives for themselves in Houston and in Kansas City. Their struggle asks us to rethink what it means to be an American. An Independent Television Service (ITVS) co-presentation.

happy & sad
I just saw the documentary last night on TV, very sad regarding the plight of mankind in general, how terrible we treat each other in war, just no basic human kindness or love for humankind. Why is man so cruel to his fellowman? Happy and uplifted watching these boys endure and survive under the very worse conditions we cannot even imagine. Even surviving the apathy of of the American/Canadian public and the system we take for granted. How we ignore the "lesser one" and judge the ones who don't "fit into" our system, so very sad, and shame on us. Uplifted how they triumphed over a whole new situation and challenges. Just amazing how these boys, now men are making a difference in a very sad and troubled world.

peace movement
my reaction is one of sadness and joy i am truly sad to see we as the human race are forced to slave our lives a way to a very limited few who's agenda is one of power i ask myself how is it possible to live on a planet that can clearly sustain human life abundantly and yet there are millions of people, mainly children, who go to sleep hungry and cold, cultures that are dying because of greed. How does one man own enough land and food resources and yet he himself will never be able to occupy or eat all that food in one life time it does not make sense, well not me any way.
when did oil and gold become more important to then the well being of children and human life in general. I refuse to believe that there simply is not enough money to feed people in the world when others have more money in the bank then what they can ever spend in their life time is that not just the most absurd thing you have ever heard.
my reaction of joy by watching this film is very positive seeing these lost boys and girls unite and care for each other it gives me hope. when one person has nothing and still gives there nothing to others that is the thing that makes sense to me it touches my human heart and makes me think that i can do the same seeing these boys who have lost their culture their home their mothers and sisters and still they can laugh and love and stay united it is truly beautiful.
so maybe the greed and power wins today by killing our spirits and love of God, but the battle is far from over there are millions out there, me being one of them, that will stand up and fight peacefully with our hearts and thoughts of creating a better now we will sing and our song will be heard we will dance and the rain with the rainbow will come.
keep believing and laughing that is the one thing greed and power cannot take from you i alone am nothing but united we are strong and peace will prevail it is not just a dream it is a reality because i think it so and by seeing the world as such thus it will become.
