A part of me didn't want to watch this movie but I had to; a dear friend of mine passed about 5 years ago from AIDS. We were connected on a level that I have never been connected to anyone before. He was my friend, he loved, and laughed and taught me how to grieve; I will never forget him.

I first saw this film in 1993 when I lived in Atlanta and my partner was first diagnosed with HIV. I was moved and terrified by the film. It was a raw experience with a disease that neither of us really understood. In the intervening years I lost many friends. The epidemic IS NOT over. My ex-partner of eleven years became HIV positive this year. We really haven't learned any lessons.
