Synopsis
So the Wind Won’t Blow It All Away reveals how the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina continues to have impact on the lives of its victims — and how entire families are among the casualties. The film tells the story of a determined group of teenagers who, more than two years after Hurricane Katrina devastated their homes and scattered their families, return to New Orleans alone and struggle to graduate from high school with their more fortunate friends. So the Wind Won’t Blow It All Away is a touching and shocking exposé of the abandoned children of Louisiana, but it is also a bracing portrait of teens who won’t be defeated by their abandonment.
So the Wind Won't Blow it All Away will be broadcast with Bronx Princess.

insight, hopes and frustration
this short hits home like many stories of my city. the struggle of the youth of my city, my community, reminds me that katrina spotlighted a lot in new orleans that has been prevalent for decades. we have a city that has some of the poorest neighborhoods and families, but also, as a direct result of the hardships here, one of the richest cultural gems of the states. these stories could have been 10 years ago, sans the flood water stories, which frustrates me about the media. does it really take a disaster to recognize that there are places in our modern america where our young men and women have to fight for everything they have, in poverty, and within a system that doesn't care, for the most part? i love my city, and have high hopes for her and the talented children that endure here, and a simpler hope that the stereo-types of the past will finally break under the song of a local marching band's pride in taking the field. take katrina out of the picture and you still have the same wounded community of the past. here's to the possibilities of the future to heal those wounds, perhaps by the very young men and women who stand up to this challenge. and thank you for this film. may it provoke a positive response.

A true story of courage and inspiration
This short film has truly been an inspiring experience, as these young people are determine not to allow their circumstances to keep them down. These young people have been able to understand what is most important to them and have taken the courage to stand by their convictions. I am proud of them and admire ther strength of character and determination. Regardless of the situation all of us in life face opposition and if these young people can fight for their future, so can I not give up on my dreams. This is an excellent film for anyone who needs to be reminded that we all can make a difference when we work from where we are, just keep trying and never give up hope and before we know it we have won.
