A N A G E M E N T
Russian
Archives Online is a project of Archive Media Project (AMP), a joint
venture of Abamedia and the Russian non-profit Film and Computer
World (KIKOM).
As
the official international marketing representative for the Russian
State Documentary Film and Photo Archive (RGAKFD), AMP is implementing
a plan for the Krasnogorsk treasures that combines public support
with private investment strategies. Priorities include the introduction
of modern cataloguing and preservation technologies, presenting
the holdings of the archive to a great variety of client bases,
and producing revenues to be invested in further preservation and
marketing.
AMP
has been hard at work in Moscow creating a digital catalogue of
the Krasnogorsk Archive's holdings and exploring restoration techniques.
A Russian digital catalogue and searchable database for the year
1938 has been completed and is now in use at the Archive, with detailed
film information, scene descriptions and thumbnail photos. Data
entry is continuing on an Internet based short-form catalog for
all film holdings of the Archive with over 14,000 Russian entries
and 2,000 English entries completed to date.
AMP
is also in the process of signing representation agreements with
a variety of Russian archives for inclusion into the RAO Web site
and marketing initiative.
