Postcards:
Words from the women themselves
Between
1890-1920, Esther, Lydia and Anna Strasburger wrote and received
more than 100 postcards. These beautiful cards have colorful
images on the front, giving a special sense of the time and
place. The messages on the back describe intimate moments
within the sisters' lives while the postmarks map their journey
west. These postcards are a rare written account from the
women themselves. They reveal some of the most intimate moments
of life on the homestead from almost 100 years ago.
