      William Shockley
        January 23, 1948:
Shockley's ideas for the junction transistor have finally come together.
These lab notes show how the amplifier will workeven how it could be
built. The drawing at the bottom of page "a" will come to be
used over and over as Shockley describes his idea. Note the horizontal
writing in the margin which says: "April 1950 An NPN unit was demonstrated
today to Bown, Fisk, Wilson, Morton." Shockley's brain child had finally
        come to life.
