Eligibility and Important Information

All applicants must be 18 years or older as of May 1, 2011 and must be full- or part-time undergraduate students.

There is no cost to students to take part in the 2011 Student Freedom Ride. American Experience will cover all costs including: transportation to and from students’ hometowns, hotel accommodations, and food costs during the trip.

If selected to take part in the 2011 Student Freedom Ride, students may be asked for a transcript and/or proof of enrollment from his/her college or university, and students may be subject to a background check.

Participation in the 2011 Student Freedom Ride may require up to three pre-trip meetings, conducted via telephone or the web.

Applicants, please note: The 2011 Student Freedom Ride will take place May 6-17, 2011, a time when some colleges will be holding their final exams. It will be the responsibility of each selected student to clear his/her participation with his/her school or professors. American Experience will provide an acceptance letter, confirming the student’s participation in the ride to facilitate that process, but will not be involved in obtaining permission from schools or professors.

American Experience will provide each student with a copy of the academic curriculum for the ride and, upon completion, will provide each student with a letter confirming participation. Students have the option to petition their universities for academic credit. American Experience will provide the above listed supporting materials, but will not be involved in securing credit.
