Whistles, Balloons For Berlin Youth
Chicopee, Nov. 15 -- "Operation Little Vittles" is going to blow and balloon its way through the Iron Curtain. A Chicopee novelty salesman, Joseph Mathieu of 172 Front St., left several hundred whistles and balloons in Mayor Edward O. Bourbeau's office yesterday morning as his Christmas gift to German children in the Soviet sector of Berlin.
The balloons were enclosed in red cellophane packages. It does not take too much imagination to picture the consternation of Uncle Joe's boys when those Berlin kids begin to let go with those hundreds of whistles.
