PRUDENT DECISION MAKING

George H.W. Bush won the 1988 election by embracing hard-line conservative views. But in his inaugural address, he
promised a "kinder and gentler" approach.

There's no doubt that following a rhetorical giant like Ronald Reagan was tough. Comedian Dana Carvey mocked Bush's cautious leadership with the words, "Wouldn't be prudent."

Some of Bush's decisions were unpopular. Bush only served one term in office, putting his legacy in question.
