Q: Answer again about the significance for Eastman of working with the Anthony Co.
Grant Romer: The Anthony Company dates from the very beginning of photography in this country, in the Daguerrian era. And by Eastman's time, the Edward Anthony & Co. business was the largest distributor and manufacturer of photographic materials in the United States, and it indeed went beyond the United States in its influence. Therefore his ability to place his product with that company and have them market his material was, in essence, the mainstream. He had gotten to the big time photographic business through Anthony.
