Q: What was the importance of the WASP socially?
Well, I don't know that we're on par with nurses, what they do as part of the
war, but I think it's interesting that the people who wanted to do this
had other people in the family who were active in the war. And it is another
aspect of people coming afterward, to see that you can take part in places that
you thought perhaps you were not welcome. So that I think that the WASPs did
play a big part and were maybe slightly inspiring, and it is certainly the
WASPs themselves appreciated the chance to be in on it too. And the WASP
certainly stick together, meet all the time. I feel very fortunate to have had
the chance through the WASPs.
