Houdini sold a total package that is what made him extraordinary. I don’t know how good magician he was. I don’t know how good an escapologist he really was. But I know he was a great showman that knew how to package himself, knew how to make himself attractive to an audience, knew how to entice the audience into the theater, to pay that ticket, knew how to appeal to vast numbers of people on the street. All of that came together to create this really extraordinary package of a performer.
